Agios Pavlos
There are hundreds of beautiful beaches around the island of Crete, each one with its own particular charm and features. Agios Pavlos is a rather remote, yet splendid beach on the southern coast of Crete, about 60 km south of Rethymno. Agios Pavlos is located inside a small bay surrounded by rocky capes, while you can also find a larger beach to the west known as Alatsogremni. If you prefer a more secluded and uncrowded destination in Crete, then Agios Pavlos might be a perfect choice, with a few accommodation options nearby.
Agios Pavlos can be reached by car from the main cities of Crete on the northern coast, crossing the island over the mountains. There are no direct buses that reach Agios Pavlos from either Heraklion or Rethymno, to reach Agios Pavlos by boat, you need to get to Agia Roumeli. A secluded and idyllic beach located on the Libyan Sea coast of Crete, Agios Pavlos or Saint Paul is not known by many travelers, which adds to its charm and peacefulness.
The small beach in the cove has rough sand, superb clear green water, and rocky seabed. It is partially organized, with a few umbrellas and sunbeds. You can visit the gorges and the monastery of Preveli and the other nearby beaches from Agios Pavlos.
